NRG Stadium Overview
NRG Stadium, opened in 2002, is the home of the Houston Texans NFL team and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo β the world's largest livestock exhibition and rodeo. The stadium features a fully retractable roof and natural grass playing surface, a combination that ensures perfect conditions regardless of Houston's unpredictable summer weather.

World Cup History
NRG Stadium will host its first FIFA World Cup matches in 2026. Houston hosted 1994 World Cup matches at the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan (Houston was not a direct host).
